Who is Cetus?

Cetus is the new Traveler added by The Starless Path update, which launched on September 17, 2026. Developer Lizard Smoothie describes him as a ranged warrior who wields the frost within his body: he builds up Cold to unleash devastating burst damage and controls enemy movement with massive glaciers and blizzard zones.

Ranged warrior built around the Cold in his blood; Cold accumulates and then bursts for heavy damage.
Creates massive glaciers and blizzard zones to control enemy movement.
Grants shields to himself and his allies, making him a dependable tank on both offense and defense.
Per the developer, he is not locked to one role: depending on how you build him, Cetus can range from a back-line burst mage to a heavy melee bruiser.

How to unlock Cetus

The official announcement gives one unlock condition: dig through the Pile of Snow. SteamDB's patch text words it as “Piles of Snow”. That is the full official wording — the announcement does not specify which maps the snow piles appear on, how many are needed, or any step-by-step flow, so this page does not invent those details.

Cetus and The Way of Stars

The Way of Stars is the expanded progression system that replaced Traveler Mastery. As you play each Traveler, their episodes connect like a constellation, revealing illustrations, limited emotes, and unique Souvenirs — and progressing far enough opens the new ending route, The Starless Path. The announcement describes this system for all Travelers and does not list any Cetus-specific Way of Stars rules, so none are claimed here.

There is no official tier ranking for Cetus, and no verified community consensus we can cite yet, so this page publishes no tier placement, stat values, or “best build”.
